Australia

The NSW State Labor Government and the Australian Federal Liberal Government are only interested in small-time crooks. Proof of this is in the fact that to the best of my knowledge no proper investigation is under way about the BHP Inc. series of colossal frauds.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry into the HIH collapse is really at best a dress-rehearsal for the inquiries into BHP Inc. where the HIH corporate collapse amounts to a little over $5 billion compared with the $80 billion involved in the BHP Inc. series of colossal frauds (that I know about)!
You'll find that this is the way our governments work - pick on the little guy and protect the big-time crook. Another example are those Lebanese convicted serial rapists and a fellow who stands out the front of the NSW "Rum Rebellion" protesting about the molestation of his daughter who was attacked that severely by a paedophile that the young woman has back problems. The solicitor protecting the paedophile is well known to the general public!

The scariest things about that "terrorist" attack in Bali is that is was perpetrated just a week before the Cunningham by-election and the Australian general public have been resistant to a so-called "Oil War" before the attack - 75% of Australians were against invading Iraq (the country with the second largest oil reserves in the world).

In the state of New South Wales there have been a number of developments recently. The ALP N40-preselected candidate for the federal seat of Cunningham by-election, Sharon BIRD, was defeated by THE GREENS candidate - Michael ORGAN (19/10/02).
Labor is that much on the nose in the Illawarra for a number of reasons;
1\ the Sandon Point development,
2\ the Port Kembla Copper smelter,
3\ George HARRISON's brief stint as Lord Mayor,
4\ the torching of the Lagoon Restaurant (George's) and
5\ Stephen MARTIN's resignation to cause the by-election.
Additionally the state branch of the Labor Party have back-tracked on a number of issues including the the Mogo charcoal plant, the Erskineville and Hunters Hill Public School closures and the Callan Park development.
